Event is open to all (100% ID Check) with free entry to Fremont Field
Once a year, Fort Belvoir Army Garrison welcomes the general public to celebrate Oktoberfest. That means, in addition to all regular Military Card Holders, the general public with a State Drivers' License and their Dependents can enter & enjoy this four-day festival celebrating all things German! Children 12 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult at all times. Non-Military must enter Fort Belvoir through the Tulley Gate Visitor Center, 9500 Pohick Rd, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060. (Map) Visitors are encouraged to go to the visitors center days before Oktoberfest and receive their pass. This will greatly reduce gate wait times.
100% ID Check. Political activity is prohibited. All bags are subject to search.
PROHIBITED ITEMS: pets, backpacks, large bags, ice chests, coolers, bikes, narcotics, camera bags larger than 1 cubic foot, roller blades, skates, skateboards, weapons, beverages (baby formula allowed), food (diabetic foods allowed).

While entry is Fremont Field is cost-free, a daily wristband or tickets must be purchased per person for all carnival rides.

All Active Duty Military and their Dependents can purchase a Carnival wristband for $15 on Sunday, Oct 1. Must have valid Active Duty ID Card for discounted wristband.
The wristband provides all-day unlimited rides but you may purchase individual tickets for $1.50 each. Each ride has a sign posted stating how many tickets are required to ride.

Please note also that the Jolly Shows Carnival reserves the right to determine at which point in the evening it is no longer going to sell wristbands but only sell individual tickets - it may determine that it is more efficient for getting customers through the line. 3 Authentic German Beers On Tap
Enjoy a collection of Oktoberfest Beer from one of the six breweries who provide Beer for Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. This Oktoberfest features Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen, Paulaner Hefe Weizen, Paulaner Wiesn, and Miller Lite on tap. Additionally, Clausthaler Non-Alcoholic beer, Red Wine and White Wine will be available. If driving, please make sure to use a designated driver.

All Drinkers must have 100% Age Verification performed at the BOSS Designated Driver Booth to receive Drinking Age Verified wristbands. Beer and Wine tickets will be available for purchase in the Beer Ticket Tent. Patrons must have tickets and wristband in order to receive drinks inside of the Fest Tent. The Mugs and Steins may be purchased at the register along with tickets in the Beer Ticket Tent.
No mugs or steins will be filled directly from the tap. Patrons are permitted to bring any mug or stein to Oktoberfest to pour their drink into but they cannot be filled from the tap.
Make sure to work up an appetite - we have a variety of speciality items to tempt your taste buds. If German food isn't for you, don't worry! There are plenty of other options:
Babci's Potato Pancakes
Potato pancakes are shallow-fried pancakes of grated potato and onion with some flour and seasoning. Potato pancakes are normally topped with a variety or condiments to include sour cream, applesauce, salt, pepper, sugar, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and the list goes on and on. The potato pancake is best served hot and fresh right off the griddle.

- 5K/10K Volksmarch
Dog-Friendly & Stroller-Friendly 5K/10K Volksmarch (Sep 30 - Oct 1)
The trail route planned for this event takes you along sidewalks and post roads on Fort Belvoir’s North and South Post. The course is largely flat with some hills. The slopes on the hills are not steep. The route is rated 2B due to the hills. Weather conditions should have little effect on the trail rating. Please do not bring backpacks, large bags or ice chests/coolers into the fenced fest area. All bags are subject to search. 100% ID check.
The event will take place regardless of most weather. The trail can accommodate strollers and wagons; however, they may require portaging over road curbs. Trail is unsuitable for wheelchairs.
Participants will meet at the Volksmarch Tent Saturday or Sunday and start the Volksmarch anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Participants must complete the event by 5 p.m.
Read the brochure (PDF) and get your comfortable walking shoes ready. Pets can come too! Just remember they must be on a leash and unfortunately they are not allowed in the fenced fest area.

Directions To Fort Belvoir
From Washington DC (I-95 South)
If you are traveling south on I-95, take the Fairfax Parkway/Backlick Road (7100) exit 166 A.
Take the Fairfax County Parkway to its end at U.S. Rt. 1 (Richmond Highway.)
At the first light, on the right, is the entrance for Tulley Gate onto Fort Belvoir. To enter using Pence Gate, continue North on Route 1 (past Tulley) and exit at the next available right (it will be directly across from Oktoberfest & Carnival on Fremont Field).
From Richmond (I-95 North)
If you are traveling north on I-95 North, take the Fort Belvoir Exit 161 B. (U.S. Rt 1 -- Richmond Highway)
You will travel five miles to Fort Belvoir.
Continue through the light at the Fairfax County Parkway (VA 7100). At the next stop light, on the right side you will see the entrance for Tulley Gate, turn right.
Tulley Gate is open 24 hours a day and is the required gate of entry for visitors without a valid Military/DoD ID Card. Visitors must obtain a visitors pass by presenting a valid state license, registration, and insurance. Visitors are encouraged to go to the visitors center days before Oktoberfest and receive their pass. This will greatly reduce gate wait times. Google Map to Tulley Gate and Visitors Center.

A: Several lots within walking distance are available for parking. Parking is free and is first-come-first-served.

Fort Belvoir’s Family and MWR hosts one of the most anticipated events of the year: The 21st annual Oktoberfest! Located at Fremont Field on Fort Belvoir, Oktoberfest is a four-day festival that highlights authentic German cuisine, beverages, music, and dancing.
Enjoy an exciting carnival, Volksmarch 10K Walk, a vendor market (Specker Field House), and much more. This is a fun-filled event geared toward the whole family!
