ROXX Strongman/Strongwoman Competition

Are you Fort Belvoir’s strongest man or woman? Put your strength to the test at our exhilarating ROXX Strongman/Strongwoman Competition! Athletes will compete in four powerhouse events: the deadlift, heavy carry, log clean and press and atlas stone carry and toss overs. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. This event will conclude with a post-competition award ceremony, where the top male and female finishers will be crowned champions!

All participants must be 18 years or older and present their DoD ID Card on the day of the competition.

Events

Hex Bar Deadlift | 3RM

  • Athletes begin facing a hex bar preset with the weight of their choice. Standing with shins parallel to the bar, athletes will have 3 minutes to compete 3 reps of their heaviest deadlift. Once the attempt has begun, no downward movement is allowed until the athlete reaches an erect position with knees locked and shoulders back. Reps must be consecutive, touch-and-go style only. Both hands must grip the hex bar throughout the duration of all 3 reps.

Heavy Carry | 50 meters

  • Athletes carry *250/450 pounds a distance of 50 meters for time.

Log Clean and Press | 1RM

  • Athletes begin in front of the log preset with the weight of their choice. The log must be received at the hips and pressed above the head, reaching full extension. Athletes will be given 3 attempts to complete the heaviest rep.

Atlas Stone Carry and Toss Overs | 10 - 8 - 5 - 3

  • Athletes begin standing on the turf, facing the Yoke set to *48/52 inches. Athletes carry the atlas stone 25 meters then complete 10 toss overs at *70/80 pounds, 8 toss overs at *80/100 pounds, 5 toss overs at *100/150 pounds and finally 3 toss overs at *150/200 pounds then sprint back to the start position for time. This event has a 10-minute time limit.

*Women will use the lighter weights and shorter height listed while men will use the heavier weights and taller height listed.

Schedule

  • 6 - 7 a.m. | Athletes check in, warm up and receive t-shirts
  • 7:15 - 7:45 a.m. | Competitor meeting to cover rules, regulations and disqualifications for each event
  • 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. | Competition begins
  • Award ceremony begins immediately after athletes complete each event.
